Royal Kludge AS-T16"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So question I have is&#8230; If a controller is&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Built well&#8230;<br>The design is done well&#8230;<br>The switches are so so and not a lot of options to change to but they&#8217;re fine&#8230;<br>The shape is great and exactly the same as another brands shape&#8230;<br>But&#8230; with very nice improvements and upgrades to the design<br>But essentially the same pad just better built&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firmware is the same that other vendors firmware file as well&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<br>Down to the name&#8230;<br>Boots up with a different logo, but as soon as you update the firmware&#8230; You see the other vendors logo on boot up on this vendors pad&#8230;???<br>They clearly pulled it from the GP2040 release list<br>Which I&#8217;m not sure is a good thing or bad thing or unethical or not&#8230;??<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example I make a new pad and use the Mavercade firmware file from the list or the Granola or Bentobox or another brands firmware from the list on a pad I sell, not a pad I make personally&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does that deserve a bad review&#8230;??? I was torn but&#8230; But I&#8217;m starting to think yes on ethics but&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean the firmware file is on the Github server so your not stealing it&#8230;<br>And I definitely dont want the vendors to move their firmware from the server list to their own personal website or server&#8230; please do NOT do that vendors&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>because then you&#8217;ll never find it if they go out of business or shutdown the website or do not maintain the website<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>but this might be the 1st bad review of the year&#8230;???<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curious everyone&#8217;s thoughts on the ethics of it all and warranting a bad review based on these factors.  Makes your product instantly feel like a cheap knockoff even though you spent the RnD dollars and made the improvements to the pad you copied:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Better build<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nice slices on the sides to pick up off the desk easy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Booter Passthrough port is on the top so you dont bend it with your legs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Better case screws, easier to get on and off<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artwork in the box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Firmware although its another vendors firmware.  The pad will always have easy updates since that vendor is known for making new pads and maintaining their firmware<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were to ask for additions I would ask for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A 2nd power port would have been nice touch too but everything else done is really nice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kailh v2 low profile switches. The Jerrzi switches are fine but there are more options to find your preferred feel with the Kailh low profile v2 switches. Not a major issue just a really nice to have  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So a lot of goods but&#8230; I don&#8217;t know how to feel outside of those points.
