Is the new Haute42 M Ultra Gen 2 right for you??? If you have the R16 now and like the rings but the rings are not a necessity the M Ultra Gen 2 is a nice upgrade for you. If you have the C16 now and want it metal on top, bigger base, and you want a left pinky the Gen 2 is a nice all metal upgrade for you.
I do wish it had a different name though… The M is for metal and the next is the model M Plus, M Lite, M Ultra. The reason I wish it had a unique M name is the spacing is more of a C than a S like the Gen 1 and the Gen 2 has the left pinky like the R. So it is it’s unique layout and not just the same pad with an extra button. What name IDK M Omega, M Left, M IDK.. but a new M name would definitely apply to this pad.
The spacing on the S is the tightest spacing. The T is the widest spacing and large keycaps and the C is in the middle more standard layout but very much like the S but slightly wider spacing. The Gen 2 is a nice option weather you have the C or the R or the M Ultra Gen 1 now. Just keep in mind the M Ultra Gen 1 is slightly tighter spacing for those that like a tighter feel and the Gen 2 is slightly wider as their are rings going around each keycap for lighting. You need space for the rings to fit so that’s why you will see a slightly wider spacing. The metal base makes the switches feel snappy no matter what switch you put on this pad. I think anyone picking up this pad will like it. The paint job feels better on the Gen 1 in my opinion but I’m not noticing any issues, feels a lot like the paint job on the M Plus Silver. Wish I had gotten the blue but I hit the wrong button when I ordered so is what it is and still happy with the black. Video with more details below.
