Haute42 1st Split Layout the C16-S This pad may be confirmation that Haute42 have found a new platform that will be the base of their new pads for the next 12 months or more. The T acrylic model and the R is a thinner model of the T. Its the same size same ports layout on major difference is the button placement and rings attached to the top.

The C16-S is the C16 frame with a different layout and that is a good thing. The layout after some time once you adjust is actually nice to play on. You have a button in the middle and a button on both sides of the pad for your pinkies mapped to L3 and R3.

The L1 and L2 are moved to the bottom of the pad, which I was not a fan of, but love how easy it is to try that play style for an hour or so and see if you like it. Then go into pin mapping and change things to what your hands prefer. For me I moved the L3 and R3 to the bottom of the pad. Then made the middle and side left and right pinky buttons L1 or L2 mixing and playing for an hour and mixing gain until I found what worked best for my hands and play style and game I was playing and I have had a lot of fun playing this way.

If you have the C16 now and you like it. I would point you towards the C16-S to give it a shot and see if the layout is a nice style for you while knowing everything else will feel the same. I can see a R16 coming as the R16-S on this platform. Only time will tell. I still want a metal R16 like the Guilkeys GF-16 or on the M Ultra platform but we shall see.

Only negatives I had on this pad is it comes stock with a frosted top for the artwork. When I put the C and C-S side by side I was not a fan of the frosted top and I hope they change that and just make the frosted tp[ an accessory not the default in the near future. Easy fix on their end as the rest of the pad is great.

The metal base makes the switches feel snappy. The plastic top layer frame makes the pad feel light. Wish the wrist rest was taller or not sloped but you dont notice in use after a bit of playing. Video with more details below. Hope this helps anyone interested or on the fence with this pad and brand make the best decision for them. Thanks
